Does Rick Santorum have a crush on Lindsay Lohan?

The former presidential candidate reportedly asked the actress to pose for a photo at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, then awkwardly denied it.

Lohan was sitting with Greta Van Susteren, whose invitation to the star drew fire from Meghan McCain, at the annual event when Santorum approached.

He reportedly asked Lindsay to take a picture of him with Van Susteren, then snapped a photo of Lohan. Not along with him, just a photo of Lohan. Alone.

Random? Sure. But probably harmless. The funny part is that when asked about this by a reporter shortly after, he dodged the question unnecessarily.

"I took a picture of a lot of people tonight," the visibly uncomfortable politician said, as though he could not remember what happened minutes earlier.

It's really okay Rick. You're allowed to be a little enamored with this sultry, captivating, slow-moving train wreck of an individual. We clearly are.

Santorum dropped out of the Republican presidential race this month, having given Mitt Romney an impressively strong run considering that he's Rick Santorum.

Usher To Preview Looking For Myself At Off-Broadway Show

Singer tells MTV News 'Fuerza Bruta' matches the 'more artistic' music on his upcoming album.

This Saturday (and this Saturday only), Usher will appear in New York City's "Fuerza Bruta," an off-Broadway show where no one speaks, but the story is told through bright lights, music and dancing. In the lead role of Running Man, Usher will also use the show to preview his June album release, Looking for Myself.

Fans in the audience will likely get closer than they've ever been to the singer, as the audience stands during the performance, becoming another member of the company. With several weeks until his album release, Usher explained to MTV News at a rehearsal why he wanted to use this show to preview tracks.

"I felt like the natural elements as well as the emotion of 'Fuerza Bruta' would definitely speak or be significant to some of the stories and I guess hopefully a connection [was there]," he explained of tying this performance to his album. "When we began to explore different directions [for the performance like] maybe we use some of their music, maybe we use some of mine ... and before you knew it the idea came together. We tried it, I got on Running Man and it worked."

The show will stream his entire album, which drops June 12, and he thinks the mind-bending artistry of "Fuerza Bruta" works with the sound he's created on it. "This is more artistic of an album than I've had in history," he said. "And I felt like yeah, it would be a lot for me, but I was willing to at least try it. There were many times I had seen the show and I only hoped that I would be able to make it happen."

Soccer player defects from Cuba, requests asylum in US

Soccer player defects: A Cuban national soccer player disappeared while his team was playing in an Olympic soccer tournament in Tennessee.

Yosmel De Armas is a Cuban soccer player who has defected in order to seek asylum in the United States. While in Nashville, Tennessee last month for an Olympic qualifying soccer tournament, the Cuban midfielder was absent from his national team's final game against Canada, although he played on Saturday?s 4-0 loss to El Salvador.?

When asked why the player skipped the game, the Cuban national coach said De Armas was sick and remained at the team's hotel. However, when the team left Nashville, the promising soccer player did not accompany his teammates on their return trip to the island nation.

Although US officials refused to comment about the player?s whereabouts, it was reported that De Armas was last seen in Miami.?

"We're preparing an asylum application to file with the Department of Homeland Security," attorney Alex Solomiany said, according to Reuters.?

The Miami-based lawyer, who?described his client as "nervous," said De Armas is "alone here"?and that he was on his way to Miami at the time of the game, contrary to the coach's allegations.

Two in five Japanese buy mobiles without research

japan.internet.com recently published a rather intersting report on a survey by goo Research into degree of satisfaction with currently-use mobile phone.

Demographics

Between the 27th and 30th of March 2012 1,084 members of the goo Research online monitor group completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 52.8% of the sample were male, 16.4% in their teens, 18.5% in their twenties, 21.3% in their thirties, 16.1% in their forties, 15.9% in their fifties, and 11.8% aged sixty or older.

In Q1, 16.5% not using a mobile phone or smartphone seems surprisingly high! There must be more behind that answer, as the usual goo Research results are just 5% or so not having such a device, and I cannot believe that the tablet market, for instance, has replaced one in ten mobile users.

I bought my mobile on its low price (-10,000 yen it turned out to be) and the size.

A push to abolish?Connecticut's?death?penalty?is one step closer to becoming a reality after clearing a key legislative hurdle in the state Senate early Thursday morning.

State senators voted 20-16 in favor of a?death?penalty?repeal bill after about 11 hours of impassioned floor debate.

The bill now goes to the House of Representatives, where it is considered to have a high level of support, and then to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, a Democrat who has said he would sign it into law.

Sen. Eric Coleman, D-Bloomfield, said he was not surprised by the bill's passage in the Senate. He said vote turned out exactly as he had expected.

"I think it is a pivotal step," he said. "It moves us towards a more enlightened posture on the issue and puts us more in line with other New England states."

The legislation would eliminate capital punishment for all future cases, but would not directly affect sentences of the 11 inmates currently on?Connecticut's?death?row. Many officials insisted on that as a condition of their support for repeal in a state where two men were recently sentenced to?death?in a brutal, highly publicized 2007 home invasion.

The repeal bill would replace the?death?penalty?for future cases with a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of release. Additionally, the bill renames the capital felony charge as, "murder with special circumstances." The charge would be reserved for individuals convicted of murdering two or more people at the same time, a person under age 16 or a person he or she has kidnapped, among other scenarios.

A Democratic amendment to the bill, which passed the Senate, would also require that inmates convicted under this new charge be subject to harsh prison conditions that mirror those which current?death?row prisoners face.

It would require separate inmate housing, allow only non-contact visitation and mandate cell movement every 90 days. The amendment also calls for weekly cell searches, continuous monitoring when outside of a cell and no work assignments outside of the housing unit.

"This is a severe and certain punishment. This does almost exactly mirror the conditions for those prisoners ondeath?row," Senate President Donald Williams Jr. said.

Despite proposing multiple bill amendments during the lengthy debate that ultimately failed to garner enough support, Senate Republicans found success in passing a bipartisan proposal that clarifies the repeal legislation is only to affect future cases.

Lawmakers were poised to take up?death?penalty?repeal legislation last year, but decided not to hold a vote in the Senate after some senators voiced concern about taking action when the second of two suspects in a 2007 deadly home invasion in Cheshire had yet to be convicted.

Now that both men have been sentenced to?death, some lawmakers who previously opposed the?penalty?have shifted their support.

Sen. Edith Prague, D-Columbia, who opposed the bill last year following the home invasion case'sdeath?penalty?phase, voted to support the repeal in the Senate.

"I cannot stand the thought of being responsible for somebody being falsely accused and facing thedeath?penalty," she said. "For me, this is a moral issue and realizing that mistakes are obviously made."

Opponents of the bill largely dismissed claims that the?death?penalty?is flawed and subject to mistakes. Instead, they predicted the repeal will be the basis for numerous legal appeals by lawyers for?death?row inmates.

During the Senate debate on the bill, opponents raised questions on the bill's constitutionality, particularly in the appeals process that is expected to occur for current?death?row inmates if the punishment is abolished.

"We've now crafted something for political purposes in order to carve out those 11 people so we can make it work," said Sen. Len Fasano, R-North Haven.

Like Fasano, Senate Republican Leader John McKinney, of Fairfield, voiced concerns over appeals that may come in response to the proposed legislation.

"What I do know is that the appeals won't stop. What I do know is that the legal process will continue and be lengthy even after the?death?penalty?is repealed, it will just be different arguments made in the appeal," he said.

Connecticut?has carried out only one execution in 51 years, when serial killer Michael Ross was administered lethal injection in 2005.

In the last five years, four states have repealed the?death?penalty?? New Mexico, Illinois, New Jersey and New York. Currently, 16 states and the District of Columbia do not have a?death?penalty.

Executions nationwide have decreased steadily since they hit an all-time high of 98 executions in 1999 and have averaged at 44 a year since 2007, according to the?Death?Penalty?Information Center.

Sunday Weather Update

First, a few words about March. It was a warm month and a wet one. In both it ranked in the top ten (9th wettest March at DFW, 3rd highest for average temperature). Last month DFW recorded 5.74? of rain, or about 82 TIMES MORE RAIN THAN LAST MARCH (.07?). Such is the nature of the weather on the northern edge of the Texas coastal plain; there is a great?variability?in rainfall from year-to-year and month-to-month.

March also ended with 12 days in a row of above-normal temperatures. Well welcome to the new month, same as the old month. There is rain on the horizon and above normal temperatures continue their streak. Highs today will top out over 90 degrees in our west in Parker and Hood Counties (towards Abilene highs will get into the upper 90?s). There could be some 90?s recorded in western Tarrant county as well. Last year we didn?t hit 90 degrees for the first time until mid-April.

The forecast high for DFW is 89. Last year on April 1st we hit 89. We all remember how last year turned out temperature-wise (4th hottest year on record).
